Our Sprockids program is one of hundreds of Sprockids programs running in over 17 countries.  In our program, youth (aged 9 to 12) participate in a weekend cycling camp (June 13 & 14) and develop bicycle skills as they advance from level 1 through to level 4.

Our aim is to have one boys group and one girls group during the weekend.   The cost for youth to participate is $50.00.

Each Group will be led by one certified Sprockids Leader and two Sprockids Assistants.  These individuals are adults with years of experience as a cyclist with experience in bicycle touring, racing, or commuting.

Program Highlights

  • Teaches four skill areas of cycling: safety and etiquette, riding (1st and 2nd Gear), and bicycle maintenance.
  • Allows participants to progress in all areas at their own pace
  • Trained Leaders instruct and evaluate
  • Teaches life skills - goal setting, problem solving, decision making, etc.
  • Develops positive philosophy - cycling and learning as life long activities
  • Promotes values - respect for others, empathy, appreciation and responsibility for the environment

Random Cycling Tip / Quote

"I took care of my wheel as one would look after a Rolls Royce. If it needed repairs I always brought it to the same shop on Myrtle Avenue run by a negro named Ed Perry. He handled the bike with kid gloves, you might say. He would always see to it that neither front nor back wheel wobbled. Often he would do a job for me without pay, because, as he put it, he never saw a man so in love with his bike as I was." ~~ Henry Miller, My Bike and Other Friends
