Kinkora King of the Mountains - 60 km

The Club provides two Hill Training Rides for the 2006 season to work in conjunction with a number of hill endurance rides. Riders can elect to meet at Shipyard Market and bicycle to the start location at the Kinkora Fire Department or arrive at the War Memorial Park beside the Kinkora Fire Department. The 1 hour pre-ride from Shipyard Market will provide an excellent warm-up for the many hills that a rider will encounter. For cyclists not taking the planned pre-ride, cyclists are encouraged to have a long warm-up prior to the beginning of the training event.

The challenging terrian of the Kinkora Road is known by all cyclists who encounter it. The course is very simple: cyclists begin at the Kinkora Fie Department and head east on route 225. They continue to the end of route 225 and then turn around. The end location is at the Fire Station.

This is the only training event were 25 points will be awarded for finishing the ride.

SPRINTS ANNOUNCED:

Sprint #2

Maximeville Course - 62 km

The Club meets at Shipyard Market (Summerside) parking lot to begin a 61 km road training ride. The course begins behind Shipyard Market and continues toward Linkletter Beach on route 11, then continues on route 11 with the Northumberland Strait on your left . We'll pass beaches and campgrounds, the Mont-Carmel Church. We'll follow route 11 through Maximeville and then to route 124 as we reach Abram-Village. From there, we'll go through Wellington and make it on route 2 and end by turning right at Selmon Park lights at the last post before Curran Street on West Drive. This is a challenging course as the cross winds of Northumberland Straight combined with the rough pavement can be demanding. Specifically, a 2.7 km stretch near the Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel Church is a hard ride on the saddle with very choppy pavement but offers picturesque images of Acadian landscape and culture.

SPRINTS ANNOUNCED:
Union Corner
(20 km)
Sprint to the "turn right" sign.
Abram-Village Corner Store
(40 km)
In the middle of a short climb.
